Dog-friendly Pumpkin Patches in the Bay Area and Beyond

One of our favorite fall pastimes is visiting dog-friendly pumpkin patches. Each year we try to find new ones to visit and love scouting out all the best gourds and photo ops at local farms. To help you plan your fall pumpkin patch visit, we’ve compiled all of our favorite dog-friendly pumpkin patches in the Bay Area and beyond. Hit them all this season if you’re feeling ambitious or just cross a new one off your list as you can. We’ll continue to add to this post as we visit new patches each year, so make sure to check back each fall season.

Arata pumpkin farm

185 Verde Rd, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Nestled amidst the picturesque coastal beauty of Half Moon Bay, Arata's Pumpkin Farm offers sprawling fields of vibrant orange pumpkins, a Minotaur Labyrinth hay maze, a six-acre corn field, hay rides, and a dedicated kid area. The crisp, salty breeze from the nearby Pacific Ocean adds an extra layer of freshness to the adventure, making it a perfect outing for both you and your canine companion. Dogs are allowed on leash around the property and inside the hay maze. Whether you're picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving or simply relishing in the charm of this rustic farm, Arata's provides a pet-friendly environment that ensures your dog can join in on the fall festivities. Don't forget to capture the adorable moments of your pup frolicking among the pumpkins.

FARMER JOHN’S PUMPKIN FARM - HALF MOON BAY

800 Cabrillo Hwy, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Located just off of Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay, Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm offers a fun, family atmosphere in a relaxing country setting where everyone is welcome, including your canine pals! Enjoy their large fields lined with orange and white pumpkins, vintage truck and tipi, and diverse variety in gourds.

Andreotti family farm - HALF MOON BAY

800 Cabrillo Hwy N, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Just next door to Farmer John’s Pumpkin Farm is Andreotti Family Farm. The pumpkin patch is more like a stand with unique pumpkin varietals scattered all throughout. This is the smallest pumpkin farm on the list but lends itself for some different photo ops than your typical pumpkin patch look.

If you visit early in the season, you might be able to walk through their sunflower farm that’s down the hill behind their pumpkin stand where they allow you to pick up to 5 sunflowers from their field, and of course also capture photos.

EARTHBOUND FARM’S FARM STAND - CARMEL

7250 Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA 93923

Earthbound Farm's farmstand in Carmel is my favorite, most picturesque pumpkin patch to visit during the fall season. Earthbound Farm's features a market at the entrance where you can purchase produce and food to eat onsite. Dog are not allowed inside, but are welcome on leash throughout the pumpkin patch. The walkway of the entrance is lined with massive pumpkins, they have the cutest little pumpkin shack, and mounds of different pumpkin varietals throughout to purchase. You can grab a barrel if you plan on collecting a lot of pumpkins or just use it for photos. They even have decorative pumpkin towers with string lights running up and down the pumpkin patch with hay bails draped in blankets to sit on.

We ended up visiting on a Friday at mid-morning and it was busier than I expected. I’d love to go back and visit when it’s an overcast day as there isn’t much shade.

COOL PATCH PUMPKINS - SACRAMENTO

6150 Dixon Ave. W, Dixon, CA 95620

Cool Patch Pumpkins is my second favorite pumpkin patch to visit during the fall season. This is one of the larger pumpkin patches on the list and if you visit during the week it’s usually not too busy. Their walkways are lined with hay bails, cornstalks, and piles of pumpkins to create picturesque areas for photos. The majority of their pumpkins are the classic orange, but they do have some unique gourds gathered along areas of the walkway.

Beyond the curated area of the pumpkin patch where you make your pumpkin selections, you can walk through their pumpkin field where all their pumpkins grow. We visited towards the end of October and only the vines were left in the field, but it still made for a unique photo op. They have a dog-friendly corn maze that you can walk through with a purchase of a ticket. The attendants manning the entrance were nice enough to let us enter for a few photos without a ticket.

Eckert’s Millstadt Fun Farm

2719 Eckert Orchard Ln, Millstadt, IL 62260

Visiting Eckert's during the fall season is an experience like no other, and it gets even better when you bring along your furry friend. The picturesque pumpkin patch at Eckert's is a beloved tradition for locals and visitors alike, and it's the perfect place to immerse yourself in the autumnal spirit. The best part? Your dog is welcome to join in on the fun! Eckert's is known for being pet-friendly, so your four-legged companion can frolic through the pumpkin patch, adding an extra layer of joy to your visit. Capture adorable photos of your pup amidst the pumpkins, creating amazing fall memories. You’ll likely need to take their hay ride out to the pumpkin patch for densely populated areas of pumpkins. We got lucky and were able to go apple picking at the same time we visited for pumpkin season and the photos below were taken walking distance from their apple orchard. Once you've found the perfect pumpkin, you and your pup can enjoy a refreshing apple cider or a delicious slice of pie from the on-site bakery.

Have you been to any of these? What other pumpkin patches should we check out? We would love to hear about your pumpkin patch festivities!
